Ahmedabad Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit apprehended a passenger arriving from Abu Dhabi for attempting to smuggle gold by swallowing it. Medical examination revealed three capsules containing 135.2 grams of 24-carat gold, valued at approximately Rs 21.89 lakh, were retrieved. The gold was seized under the Customs Act for attempted smuggling.
A 22-year-old man, Mustakim Sheikh, was tragically killed in Juhapura when a high-speed dumper without a numberplate struck his scooter. The accident occurred near Royal Akbar Tower as Mustakim attempted to cross the road. Police have registered a case against the dumper driver for causing death by negligence and rash driving.
