Chandipura virus claims 22 children in Gujarat this monsoon; 35 cases confirmed

22 children have died from Chandipura virus infections this monsoon season in Gujarat. Thirty-five cases tested positive out of 184 suspected infections reported across the state. Seven patients are currently receiving treatment in various civil hospitals for the viral disease. Health teams are spraying pesticides in affected areas to control sandfly populations. Symptomatic patients are instructed for immediate ICU admission to prevent organ failure.
