Ahmedabad experienced 4mm of rain and cloudy skies, with temperatures significantly below normal. The IMD forecasts light to moderate rain with heavy showers for the city on Tuesday, issuing a yellow alert for several Gujarat districts. Surat recorded the highest rainfall at 242mm, while other districts also experienced widespread rain.

In a recent bypoll, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) successfully retained the Kadi Assembly seat in Gujarat. Rajendra Chavda, the BJP candidate, secured a decisive victory over Congress’ Ramesh Chavda with a significant margin of 39,452 votes. This win further solidifies the BJP’s strong presence in the North Gujarat region, where they have consistently performed well in past elections.

In Ahmedabad district, a 16-year-old’s motorcycle crash resulted in a death. The incident occurred near Keliya Vasna village. Kuldeepsinh Rathod, the pillion rider, died at the scene. Dholka Rural Police filed a case against the boy’s father. He allegedly allowed his underage son to ride. The father is booked under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Omprakash Prajapati, a rickshaw driver, narrowly escaped the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital plane crash on June 12th. He had arrived to pick up doctors for a ride to the railway station when the blasts occurred. Prajapati sustained burn injuries while fleeing, expressing concern for the doctors who had booked the ride and his relief at not being closer to the explosion.
