Ahmedabad faces a surge in waterborne diseases during the summer, particularly in the eastern part of the city, due to contaminated drinking water. From May 1 to May 25, 2025, there were significant cases of gastroenteritis, jaundice, typhoid, and cholera reported. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is actively collecting and testing water samples to address the contamination issues.

An Ahmedabad-based electronic weighing scale firm, Sumo Digital Incorporation, has won a legal battle against an Assam manufacturer over trademark rights to the ‘Sumo’ brand. A local court has upheld a temporary injunction, preventing the Assam-based manufacturer from selling scales under the ‘Sumo’ name.
